Zirconia Crowns

Monolithic or multilayer zirconia offering exceptional strength and natural translucency, ideal for both front and back teeth.

E-max Crowns & Veneers

Lithium-disilicate ceramic, from standard to hand-characterised premium finishes, prized for its lifelike appearance on visible front teeth.

Metal-Ceramic Crowns

A durable, cost-effective option combining a metal or chrome-cobalt substructure with a ceramic outer layer.

Inlays & Onlays

A conservative alternative to a full crown when only part of the tooth structure needs rebuilding.

When you need a crown

Common reasons patients choose a crown

After Root Canal

Protects and strengthens a tooth weakened by root canal therapy.

Cracked Teeth

Holds a cracked tooth together and prevents the fracture from worsening.

Failing Fillings

Restores strength when a filling is too large to support the remaining tooth.

Bridge Support

Anchors fixed bridges to replace missing teeth without implants.

How the crown process works

1

Consultation & Scan

Digital impressions and a smile design preview identify the ideal shape, size and shade.

2

Tooth Preparation

The tooth is gently reshaped and a temporary crown fitted while your permanent one is milled.

3

In-House Milling

Our on-site laboratory produces your custom crown using 5-axis CAD/CAM technology for a precise fit.

4

Final Fitting

Your crown is bonded, checked for bite and polished for a finish that blends naturally.

Making the right choice

What to know about crowns and veneers

How crown material affects your result

Zirconia offers the highest strength and is well suited to molars and heavy bite areas, while E-max provides superior light-reflecting aesthetics for visible front teeth. Metal-ceramic remains a reliable, budget-conscious option with a long clinical track record.

Your clinician will recommend a material based on the tooth's location, your bite force, and whether aesthetics or durability is the higher priority for that specific tooth.

Standard vs. premium finishes

Within both zirconia and E-max, there are tiers: standard monolithic or hybrid restorations offer excellent value, while premium hand-layered and hand-characterised versions add subtle translucency and shade variation for the most demanding front-tooth aesthetics.

Crowns vs. veneers

A veneer covers only the front surface of a tooth and requires minimal reshaping, making it ideal for cosmetic changes to healthy teeth. A crown covers the entire tooth and is used when more structural strength is needed, such as after a root canal, a large filling failure, or a fracture.

Caring for your crown

Crowns are cleaned like natural teeth: regular brushing and flossing, with particular attention to the gumline. They cannot be whitened after placement, so if whitening is planned, it should happen before your crown shade is finalised.

  • Avoid biting very hard foods directly on a new crown for the first days
  • Attend regular check-ups to monitor the margin and surrounding gum
  • Report any sharp pain or looseness promptly rather than waiting

In-house lab turnaround

Because crowns are designed with digital impressions and milled on-site using 5-axis CAD/CAM technology, then finished in precision ceramic kilns that fire, press and sinter the restoration to its final strength and shade, most cases avoid the multi-week wait typical of outsourced dental laboratories, often completing within a single short trip.

Temporary vs. permanent crowns

A temporary crown, usually made of composite resin, protects your prepared tooth while the permanent restoration is milled. It is not designed for long-term wear, so avoid sticky or very hard foods and contact the clinic if it feels loose.

Replacing a lost or damaged crown

If a crown chips or comes loose after you have returned home, contact your coordinator first. Many issues can be assessed by photo or video call, with a repair or replacement scheduled on your next visit if travel isn't immediately practical.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long do dental crowns last?

With good oral hygiene, zirconia and E-max crowns typically last 10–15 years or longer, while metal-ceramic crowns average 8–12 years.

Does getting a crown hurt?

The tooth is numbed with local anaesthesia before reshaping, so the procedure itself is not painful. Mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal.

How many visits does a crown take?

Most crowns are completed in two visits: preparation and digital impressions with a temporary crown fitted, then bonding the final, in-house milled crown, often within one short trip.

Can I whiten my teeth before getting a crown?

Yes, and it's recommended. Whiten first, then your crown shade is matched to your desired final colour, since crowns can't be whitened afterwards.

What is the difference between a crown and a bridge?

A crown restores a single tooth. A bridge uses crowns on the teeth either side of a gap to support a replacement tooth in between, offering a fixed alternative to a removable denture or an implant.

Is crown treatment covered by insurance?

Coverage varies widely by country and provider. Many patients find it useful to request an itemised invoice for reimbursement claims, so ask your coordinator when your treatment plan is confirmed.
